Privacy policy

3rd Rider is a field reference app for EMTs and paramedics, made by Third Rider LLC ("we" or "us"). This policy explains what happens to information in the app and on this website.

In short: the app does not collect, send or sell any information. What you enter stays on your phone.

What we collect

Nothing. 3rd Rider has no accounts or sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting. The app does not send what you enter to us or to anyone else.

What stays on your phone

The app stores these on your device only:

What you record on a call: the code log and the call report (times, age, weight, vital signs, treatments, allergies and run number).
Your favorites, settings and the phone numbers you save.
Any protocol PDFs you add under "My protocols".

We never see or receive this information. It is left out of iCloud and Google backups, and on Android out of transfers to a new phone. "End this call" erases the call information, and deleting the app deletes everything it stored. The call report has no name field, and Social Security numbers typed into it are removed.

Location

The app asks for your location only when you tap "Use my location" on the Hospitals screen. It uses that reading on your phone to sort its built-in list of hospitals by distance. Your location is not saved and is not sent anywhere. You can say no, or turn location off in your phone's settings, and the rest of the app works the same.

When something leaves the app

Only when you choose to:

Directions opens Apple Maps or Google Maps with the hospital's location and name. Your own location is not passed to them.
Tapping a phone number opens your phone app to call it.
Copy puts the call report on your phone's clipboard for you to paste.

Those apps' own privacy policies apply to what you do in them.

Permissions

Location, while you use the app, to sort hospitals by distance.
Vibration (Android), for a light buzz when a button records something.

The app does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or notifications.

Patient information

Because what you enter never leaves your device, we do not receive, store or process patient information. Follow your agency's policies on recording patient information.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. Our web host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to deliver and protect the site.

Children

3rd Rider is made for EMS professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new date.
